Instrument making is the main area for workshops. Giles provides materaials and tools for up to twenty children to make their own instruments. These will include : shakers, drums, xylophones, rain sticks, balloon blowers, mobile music machines and new inventions. 
The workshops can easily be incorporated into carnival arts.
They can also be seen as a combination of design technology work with the creative arts.
There is an emphasis on recycling.
